TRIO
CON BRIO offers a unique blend of musical
personalities. All three musicians are members
of the artist faculty at Florida State University
and maintain active performance schedules. These
three experienced artists - each of whom has been
successful as a soloist, orchestral player and
chamber musician - represent musical collaboration
of the highest order. Their repertoire consists
of standard and little-known works of composers
literally from A to Z, spanning three centuries
and including world premiers. They provide a wonderful
musical treat for the ear with solos, duos in
various combinations, and trios.
Frank
Kowalsky, clarinetist, has performed
as principal clarinetist with orchestras throughout
the United States, including the Naples Philharmonic,
Tallahassee Symphony, and Northwood Orchestra

a tour to England as guest soloist with the FSU
Wind Ensemble and concerts with the Opperman Reed
Trio on the east coast and in Carnegie Hall's

the Interlochen Arts Academy for ten years, he
has been Professor of Clarinet at FSU since 1984.
His students have won national and international
competitions and hold positions in major orchestras
and on college an university faculties throughout
the country. Dr. Kowalsky holds degrees from the
Eastman School of Music, the Manhattan School
of Music and Catholic University
Lubomir
Georgiev, cellist, joined the FSU
faculty in 1993, following his position as principal
cellist in the Sacramento Symphony. Mr. Georgiev
graduated from the Bulgarian State Conservatory
in Sofia and received the Artist Diploma from
Indiana University, where was a student of Janos
Starker. He has been soloist and principal cellist
with the Sofia Philharmonic, appeared as guest
artist with major orchestras and on Bulgarian
radio recordings, and has won national and international
awards and competitions, both as a cellist and
as a composer. Mr. Georgiev is a frequent guest
performer at festivals in Bear Valley, California;
Desert Foothills, Arizona; and Varna, Bulgaria.
He has also performed with the Dohnanyi Piano
Trio on tour and in Carnegie/Weill Recital Hall.
Carolyn

extensively as both soloist and collaborative
artist. Her engagements have taken her throughout
the United States, (including concerts with both
the Dohnanyi Piano Trio and the Opperman Reed
Trio in Carnegie/Weill Recital Hall), Canada,
Europe, South America, the Azores Islands, and
Southeast Asia. She has appeared as soloist with
the Atlanta, Baltimore and Tallahassee Symphonies

music coach, Dr. Bridger has presented master
classes as far away as Malaysia and the Dalmatian
Islands, and has taught at the International summer
School in Stari Grad (Croatia), the Grand Teton,
Red Lodge and Tidewater Music Festivals. Following
