The
Voice Area of the Florida State University School of Music
has an established world-wide reputation as a leader in
the field of voice study. Voice majors receive individual
attention from the members of the full-time artist voice
faculty. The undergraduate voice performance curriculum
is one of the finest in the country with courses in music
theory, music history, language and diction study, vocal
and opera literature, vocal pedagogy, conducting, and
opera training. Active participation in opera productions
and choral ensembles is an important part of the undergraduate
experience. An undergraduate degree in voice from FSU
is an excellent way to prepare for admission to the finest
graduate schools. In addition to voice study, graduate
students at the MM or DM level are able to work with our
staff of professional vocal and opera coaches, take graduate
level courses in vocal pedagogy, vocal and opera literature,
perform in Florida State Opera productions and sing in
graduate vocal ensembles. Due to our excellent instrumental
programs, our singers are able to perform with first-rate
pianists, chamber ensembles, and orchestras. Singers with
degrees in voice and opera from FSU have found careers
performing in major opera houses throughout the world
and teaching in our nation's finest music schools and
conservatories. Undergraduate voice scholarships and graduate
voice and opera assistantships are available to qualified
students. |
