Performance
Opportunities
Besides performing in the regular
Music Theatre Productions, Music Theatre students
are encouraged to perform in as many venues as
possible. The School of Music offers a wide range
of performance opportunities, including operas,
and a multitude of ensemble experiences. In addition,
Music Theatre students have danced in University
Dance Productions and performed in Shakespeare
and Chekhov plays on Mainstage.

Since 1988 each senior class has created their
own Senior Project, to be performed in Tallahassee,
to exhibit their years of training here at Florida
State University. These projects have been as
different as the individual students themselves.
They have ranged from an informal one-man show
to an original musical, written, composed, directed,
and performed by a Music Theatre senior. Each
graduating class has built upon this exit performance,
and each senior project has served as an inspiration
for the students in the program to follow
In
1999 the senior project grew to be more than a
Tallahassee performance. It became a Senior Showcase,
which was performed in New York City, with two
performances for an audience of invited agents
and directors, master teachers, producers, alumni,
and friends, beginning a new tradition for the
Music Theatre Program. |
