VALERIE
TRUJILLO, Assistant Professor of Coach Accompanying,
has experience in song literature and opera
that makes her much sought after as an accompanist,
coach, teacher of master classes, and adjudicator
of area competitions. She was a Fellow in
Vocal Coaching at the Tanglewood Music Center
and has worked with many regional opera
companies including Glimmerglass Opera,
Connecticut Opera, Mississippi Opera, Opera
Theatre of Wildwood and Augusta Opera.
Ms.
Trujillo has taught at several summer music
festivals including the Tanglewood Music
Center, the Lake Placid Institute, Opera
in the Ozarks, Ohio Light Opera, and Intermezzo.
For three years, she was the official accompanist
for the Metropolitan Opera's Southern Regional
auditions and continues to enjoy an active
performing schedule which has taken her
through the U.S., Greece, Spain, Italy,
Pakistan, and Costa Rica.
A
native of Santa Fe, N.M., she received her
musical training from Eastern New Mexico
University and the University of Illinois,
where she studied with John Wustman. Ms.
Trujillo is a former music faculty member
at Florida State University, the Hartt School,
and Middle Tennessee State University. She
was also on the music staff at Yale University
and Central Connecticut State University.
She rejoined the Florida State faculty in
the fall of 2002.
