NANCY
ROGERS, Assistant Professor of Music Theory,
received a Ph.D. from the Eastman School
of Music, where she won both school-wide
and university-wide teaching awards. She
also holds a M.M. from the University of
Michigan, a B.M. in music theory and composition
from Northwestern University, and a B.A.
in linguistics from Northwestern University.
She is a Mellon Fellow in the Humanities.
Her primary research interest is music cognition
and its pedagogical implications, and she
has presented papers at national, international,
and regional conferences.
Before
coming to Florida State University, Dr.
Rogers served on the faculties of Northwestern
University, the University of Iowa, and
Lawrence University. She has taught a variety
of undergraduate and graduate courses, including
both common-practice and post-tonal theory
and analysis, aural skills, practical keyboard
harmony, music cognition, and music theory
pedagogy. Dr. Rogers is currently treasurer
of Music Theory Midwest and also serves
on the Society for Music Theory's Committee
for the Status of Women.
