JANICE
HARSANYI, Professor of Voice, came to Florida
State University in 1978. After receiving
her B.M. from Westminster Choir College,
she continued further studies at the Academy
of Vocal Arts. Highly acclaimed as a recitalist,
opera and oratorio singer, and orchestra
soloist, she has performed in 44 states
and 6 European countries. Chosen by Eugene
Ormandy, Harsanyi has sung more than 40
times with the Philadelphia Orchestra. She
has performed at leading festivals in this
country and with many of the major orchestras,
with conductors such as Barbirolli, Shaw,
Mitropoulos, and Stokowski. She has recorded
for Period, Decca, CRI and Columbia.
Professor
Harsanyi previously taught at the University
of Michigan, Westminster Choir College,
Interlochen Arts Academy, and the North
Carolina School of the Arts. She is listed
in Who's Who in America, International Who's
Who in Music and the New Grove Dictionary
of American Music.
